THE GREENHOUSE LETTUCE

This is lettuce Marlene planted in November.  We harvested some before we left for the desert and made arrangements with neighbors and friends to harvest it while we were gone.  Loren, our Canby Community Garden associate, harvested a couple of times and gave it to the food bank in Canby.  Now that we are home we have been having fresh salads every day.  I wonder how long this original crop will last?

THE END OF A SPRING DAY

This is the end of another rainy March day.  Last year at this time it was 75 degrees and sunny.  We left for our eastern trip and then it started to rain.  This year we went south and when we got back it was raining and hasn't stopped since the first of March.  Records will be broken.  Most rain in March since 1957.

BUILDING RAISED BEDS

Marlene and I work with the Canby Community Garden Association.  This year the Association received a grant which will allow us to teach classes in gardening.  We call them "From Seed to Table".  I'm building some raised beds which we will place in our Community Garden.  We'll use them to demonstrate transplanting, growing and harvesting.

While the big brothers sharpen their shooting skills, Casey stays out of the way by helping Omy clean up the garden bed by the barn.

ALMOND BLOSSOMS

You can tell spring is coming. The buds look ready to pop. I've finished prunning the apples, blueberries, currents, apricot, pear, and almond tree. Marlene is pulling weeds and planting seeds.
