IT’S HARD TO LEAVE THE MOUNTAINS

As we left Zakopany this morning we tried to find the road which lead higher into the mountains.  It’s difficult to navigate when you don’t have a destination to punch into the GPS.  We never could find the road, so we gave up and headed back down the valley, found an alternate route and headed back up to the high pass into the Slavic Republic.  Along the way we stumbled upon this hotel.

019  It was time to stop for lunch so we decided to have it here and check out the rooms.  This place is very rustic and the menu was all Polish.  The food was authentic, basic, and inexpensive.  012  What I’m having here was called “Robber’s Stew”.  Marlene had cabbage soup, salad plate and bread.  What a meal!013  What a view!  We checked in after finding a double room with private bath would cost us $30.  We spent the rest of the afternoon reading and looking at the mountains. 006  008  The scene kept changing as the clouds moved through, the rains came and passed and the sun went down. 016  024  025  029030  031  032 Late in the afternoon, a large tour bus arrived and discharged it’s load of soccer fans.  About 40 men and women came here to watch the European games on a big screen TV.  Poland was playing Sweden.  027  026  The game has now finished.  It ended in a tie.  The fans returned to the dining room for sausage and salad while I finished up on this blog.
