THIS PLACE HAS BEEN GREAT

Tonight is our last night here at Newport News, Va. City Park. We had planned on spending the day driving down to Kitty Hawk, but showers and a cool wind were predicted there, so we changed our plans. Instead, I played 18 holes at the Deer Run course here in the park. Marlene stayed home and cleaned up the inside of the motor home and finished laundry. When I got back, I washed the motor home and the car so now everything is nice and shinny.

This was the view out our window at dinner. The flowers are Marlene's birthday bouquet of tulips. They still haven't dropped their pedals.
After dinner we took our power walk on the trails through the park. We saw 14 white tail deer. They aren't afraid of us, but do scamper away when we get close. I also saw 12 deer on the golf course today. The course winds through the same forest as our campground is in. It's a long tough course and a great bargain. Eighteen holes plus a cart for a senior over 60 is $26.01. That's even a better buy than Stone Creek in Oregon.

Tomorrow we'll leave here and head south to Kitty Hawk and find a campground near there or on the Outer Banks, Cape Hatteras National Shoreline.
